Last week I was entering the Entrance to the C train at Canal and 6th in NYC and noticed the above photo on a poster. I couldn’t help but be obviously curious, cause frankly, a photo of a child looking at a gun magazine? In the Big Apple?!? Heaven’s, where’s Million Mom Marcher’s, or Bryan Miller? Surely somebody should’ve been protesting such a thing. Turns out there’s a William Eggleston at the Whitney. This is the first time I’ve been exposed to his work, so, since I had nothing to do, and nowhere to go today, I thought I check it out.
His photography is quite interesting. I personally enjoy the strong contrast of colors, which is probably due to using a *dye transfer process* for printing.
And naturally I enjoyed seeing photos of people with guns in the exhibit.

I personally didn’t like his B&W photography. Felt like he was phoning it in so to say.
Dennis Hopper is fan of his too:
“We shot guns and took pictures and laughed a lot at the state of the union”
As it turns out, the child in the top photo is Eggleston’s son.
