While in NJ, we have Democrat Majority Leader Steve Sweeney, who is not goose stepping to Bryan Miller’s drum beats for *One Gun a Month* Bill, and supposedly, Sweeney is a supporter of LGBT rights.
Damn, that’s gotta get Progressive’s knickers in twist. Cause isn’t gay, and abortion rights some of the keystones of the Progressive’s thinking, while also being balls out for gun control?
I think the next few years will be interesting, because it looks like gun rights advocates will find supporters in very unusual places.
Not so surprising. I’m about as far left as you can imagine and I’m pretty strongly pro-gun. My dad and grandfather were both Democrats and gun owners.
Gun issues have become one of those hyper-polarized partisan issues where neither side is willing to give an inch…we end up being to busy attacking each other.
I’ll give you an example: I saw a fellow gun-owner go batsh*t crazy on someone at work who was just plain ignorant of guns. My co-worker did nothing to further common sense and tons to reinforce ignorance and stereotypes.
You know how I’ve cured two or three anti-gun people I’ve known? Took em to the range, it’s amazing how someones attitude will change when they learn just how freaking fun shooting is and realize that for most of us we’re into guns because we JUST like to shoot for the heck of it.
One of these people is currently shopping around for his first plinking rifle…how great is that?
