with having a single theme blog, is that you sometimes have down time aka *dark periods* as my blogger friends tend to refer to them. It’s been relatively quiet for me gunnie wish lately. Not really too much going on in NJ, just sorta funny how Kamp Korzine seems to be focused on Chris Christie’s driving record……
Anyway, I’ve been thinking of getting a ’66 Winchester repro in 44.40 for black powder loads, by the style I’d like to get doesn’t come in that caliber. Then again, I’m also tossing around the idea of getting an original ’73 Winchester in 44.40. I can get a decent shooter for the price of a worked up ’66 repro…..but who knows. Right now I’m not so loose with my money, so I can talk as tough as I’d like since there’s no plate to step up to yet.
Finally got a cowboy match tomorrow, and so far, it looks like it ain’t gonna get rained out. Haven’t dished out gunsmoke in a few weeks, cause it rained everytime I wanted to go. Gotta start getting in the groove, got a regional shoot in Maryland in the beginning of October, and I want to do a good job. Leave the showboating for the regular monthly matches. Plus there’s the NJ State shoot in Mid October, and the 2 day shoot at Topton at the end of Oct as well.
Hopefully I’ll be getting my Old Army’s back soon. Still have to get caps and powder, and a few other things before I start slinging those. Plus I need to find someone to show me safe handling. Don’t need the wrong kind of *boom*, that could just ruin a good day.
If I get up and running on those Old Army’s soon, I might use them at the Topton shoot. If not, I’ll finish out the season with them. If it ain’t raining.
Shot Steel Challenge a few weeks ago. Got an interest in that since hearing them talk about it on Gun Nuts Radio one time. It was lot’s of fun, got to go with a few people from the shooting clinic I attend when I got time and ammo. But if I stick with Steel Challenge, I’ll have to find another pistol to use, since I ate up a bunch of 45acp. And eating up so much 45acp = $$$.
But today, I think I’ll be going to PS1 in Long Island City to see Kenneth Anger’s exhibit before it closes next weekend, then I gotta get home and prep for tomorrow’s shoot.
