NJ has no hope

When fellow NJ gun owners, practically cite bradybots word for word regarding a licensing system for gun owners, on the grounds that *Hey, you need a license to drive a car*, and defend that view with as much venom as the anti gun folks, it’s really game over.

Just shovel that last load of dirt on the grave already.

After I got my FID and first set of pistol permits, I caught myself thinking, “Hey, that wasn’t that bad.” Especially since I got them after only waiting for two months.

Luckily, I had the experience of being a gun owner in Tennessee, where buying a pistol can be a 15-minute process, so I quickly stamped down that thought.

Also luckily, I know plenty of NJ gun owners who are fed up with the whole thing.

  2. *Hey, you need a license to drive a car*

“Hey, a license issued to all comers who can pass a basic safety and proficiency test, which allows me to take my gun/car anywhere in the country with almost no restrictions so long as I don’t use it recklessly? That _would_ be a big improvement over our current system!”

I mean, it’s not like we don’t let people drive to bars and post offices.

Hell, it took 2 minutes for the local Merchants o’ death to process my background check last Saturday (skated in under the wire – NJSP close up shop at 5 pm and I walked in with only the idea of buying some kind of .22 bolt action; so I had to shoulder every damn one in the store); msot of which was spent with the clerk IDing the store. So having the card was beneficial (check my SBI# and I’m good to go I guess).

Still rather not *have* to have the card. Or let it function as a carry permit for handguns the way it does for long-arms.
