It will be tough to reconcile that, but I’m under the impression that this platform was designed in the early 60′s, and has developed from there. So if I look at it that way, it is from before I was born. So it might slip through the dreaded *pre birth loophole* (que eerie muzak).
I just got a dedicated .22 upper for my EBR so I shoot it more often. My club has a single-station 100-yard high-power range with a long cement tube that’s designed for sighting in a rifle and not much else. Add to that that the outdoor ranges are only open on prime-numbered days of the month, and the opportunities to shoot .223 are a bit limited.
(Okay, not really prime-numbered days, but something similarly arcane.)
Let us know how it goes (particularly the quest for NJ legality; though I’m knocking on wood with crossed fingers that one of the children of McDonald (grandchildren of Heller) will result in a striking of the state-level AWB)
You need to come hang out in PA more – we do that kind of stuff all the time.
Don’t forget the BBQ.
The new smoker we got is crazy. It’s looks like the Android logo, only huge. Once the weather clears up, I imagine we’ll have lots of bbq.
Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Black Rifle. They are, indeed, awesome… like Barbie dolls for grownups.
I was thinking of shopping for one while I’m in Georgia, but I gotta figure out what makes ‘em Jersey compliant.
Y’know, I have a hard time picturing you firing a gun designed less than 113 years ago.

I’m thinking of getting a .223/5.56 with a .22 conversion myself. Just not sure which one. I shot a DMPS which was nice.
If you can find a Colt Match Target, that’s ideal, ’cause there’s a letter on the state police website specifically exempting that model (http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/fire_ag1.html.) Another good page to check out is http://njguns.com/laws.htm.
Build your own! Its even more fun that way.
