Shot my Ruger Old Army’s for the first time today.
Fuckin’ awesome!
40grains of FFg black under a .45cal round ball = lot’s of smoke (makes me wonder what 50 to 60grains of black is like when you pull that trigger on a 1847 Walker……oh momma).
The one thing with cap and ball guns, is I’m gonna have to get used to seating the caps properly. There was a few times when I had to go around a second time to get it to go bang. But on the plus side, I noticed I was flinching quite a bit.
Alot more power under those full house .45cal loads then even a full house .38cal load. But like I mentioned, shooting black is more of a *boom* than a *bang*, and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about when you pull that trigger yourself.
And if I didn’t get a stoopid procedural on the first stage, I woulda gotten a clean match.
Oh well.

A bad day at the range beats a good day at work!
