No Guns for the Blind

In NJ,

prosecutors say a blind man should not have the right to bear arms because he doesn’t safely store his guns (NJ safe storage laws only apply to households with children)

The judge raised concerns about Hopler’s habit of leaving loaded guns around his home. But the judge noted the former truck driver lives alone and even police officers have shot themselves while cleaning weapons.

One Response to No Guns for the Blind

  1. Ian Argent says:

As noted further in the article – officially, his sightedness or lack thereof is not at question, his habit of strewing firearms about the house is (with a lesser question of “does an ND make one unfit to possess firearms”.)

And his defense seems to be – there’s no safe storage law in NJ. (Incidentally, if there was it woudl be unconsitutional per Heller/McDonald – HEller directly struck down DC’s safe storage law)
