After shooting 150 to 200 rounds of 45acp loaded with FFg GOEX at a Zombie shoot, it looks pretty gruesome huh?
Not too bad to clean up though. Basically 15mins with HOT water and soap, batches of windex/vinegar mix, then Ballistol. Wire brushes, and old toothbrushes come in handy, since the 1911 has ALOT more nooks and crannies than a single action revolver.
Unlike last time, clean up wasn’t so wet and greasy. Not sure if my running the slide dry helped or not. Did not have any lube on anything, only left over was a very very very light coating of Ballistol, so I’m guessing when it comes to black, less is a whole lot more.
Got one last Wild Bunch match to finish off the 2010 Cowboy season, so I’m going out in a blaze of glory, so I’m keeping my 1911 prepped for black.

You know, even with the pictures of an incredibly (by smokeless standards) gun, You still make me want to get into black powder. It just seems fun.
It is fun.
Easy to load, easy to clean, and chicks dig it.
