Refinishing Furniture on my Gun

Refinished the furniture on my Uberti ’66 clone leever gun.

Originally, it came with a crappy thick plastic polyurethane coating on it.  Yuck is right.

Used citri strip and wood paint stirrers to get that crap off, 400 grit sandpaper to smooth it out, some medium walnut oil stain, and when that was dry and ready to roll, then I used a mix of linseed oil and rotten stone to buff it up a bit, and then pure linseed oil to wipe it all down.

Came out nice.  Looks better in person though.

We’ll see how long it last’s after a big meal of real black.

Next step is some engraving of the receiver, but my bank account ain’t giving it up any time soon………

Very pretty. Mind sharing what brand of stain you used?

Thanks. I may be refinishing an old walnut stock soon, so I’ll keep that in mind.
